The questions that come up most — answered honestly.
If you're not finding what you need here, just reach out. Real questions get real answers.
Mostly conversation. You'll share what's bringing you in — what's been hard, what you're hoping for, anything you've already tried. I'll ask some questions to get a clearer picture, and I'll answer any questions you have for me. There's no expectation that you arrive with the right words or know exactly what's wrong.
By the end of the session, you'll have a sense of how the work might unfold and whether it feels like a fit. There's no pressure to commit on the spot.
Most clients start weekly. A consistent rhythm builds momentum and trust, especially early on. As the work settles in, some clients shift to every other week. We'll find a cadence that supports the work without becoming a burden.
It varies — and there's no single right answer. Some clients work with me for a focused stretch around a specific issue. Others stay longer through different seasons of life. We'll check in regularly about what's working and what you need.
Yes. I offer secure telehealth sessions for anyone in Colorado. Many clients find virtual sessions just as effective as in-person work, and considerably easier to fit into a full life. I'll send you a secure link before each session.
In practice, it means pacing matters, safety comes first, and you stay in choice throughout. We don't dig before there's trust, and we don't ask you to revisit hard material in ways that overwhelm your system. Trauma-informed care isn't a single technique — it's a stance that shapes the whole relationship.
It also means recognizing that trauma isn't just about big events. Chronic stress, attachment wounds, identity-based harm, and accumulated small disruptions all leave their marks. We honor whatever you bring.
Yes, with the standard legal limits I'll walk through in our first session. The main exceptions are situations involving imminent harm to self or others, and certain situations involving children or vulnerable adults. Outside those, what happens in our sessions stays between us.
I'm currently a private-pay practice and don't bill insurance directly. I'm happy to provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Check with your insurer about their out-of-network mental health benefits — many plans do cover a portion. More on this on the Fees page.
Fit matters more than nearly any other variable in therapy. After our first session, you should have a sense of whether I feel like someone you can be honest with and whether the way I work resonates with you. If it doesn't, I'll happily help you find a referral to someone who might be a better match.
Of course. Many of my clients are new to therapy. You don't need to know how it works ahead of time, and you don't need to come with the right vocabulary. We'll find our way together.
For therapy: I can see anyone located in Colorado via telehealth, in addition to in-person sessions in Denver. Licensure is state-based, so unfortunately I can't see clients located in other states for therapy.
For consulting and training: I work with organizations both locally and remotely across the country.
If you're in immediate danger, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. My practice isn't set up to provide crisis response — but I'm glad to help you find ongoing therapy support after an acute situation has stabilized.
